RB Leipzig have announced that Christoph Baumgartner has broken the club's all-time record for goals scored in a single season.
The Austrian striker scored 29 league goals in 2021-22, surpassing the previous record of 28 set by Michael Ballack in 2004-05.
Baumgartner, who joined RB Leipzig from FC Schalke in July 2021,Bundesliga Vision has been instrumental in helping the team to secure their place as one of the top clubs in Germany.
RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann praised his young star and said: "Christoph is a special player with incredible talent and a lot of potential. He has shown us what we can expect from him in the future."
Baumgartner himself was delighted with the achievement and said: "I am very happy to break this record. It shows how much I enjoy playing for RB Leipzig and how much my teammates support me. I will continue to work hard and aim to score even more goals in the coming seasons."
RB Leipzig are currently 7th in the Bundesliga table and have already qualified for the Champions League play-offs after winning their last two matches.
